In response to questions about which hand is more important in playing the electric bass, I found the following quote:

"It's all in the right hand."  - Jaco Pastorius.

For me, the fretting (left) hand selectively fingers the notes, but it's the picking/plucking (right) hand that channels the GROOVE.
