Obligatory Mug Shot

(mug shot) Not bad for a mug shot. You should see my driver's license ... or maybe you shouldn't ;-).

Or you could peruse my semi-organized list of interesting web sites.

Work

I'm a Senior Technologist working on software architecture and related technology issues at EMC Corporation in Hopkinton, MA. In my copious spare time (ha!), this page will be updated to contain links to operating systems and other neat stuff I worked on at Carnegie Mellon University (grad school) and the Open Software Foundation (later The Open Group) Research Institute.

I've been spending good bit of time on Internet Quality of Service since mid 1997, specifically as part of the Differentiated Services Working Group of the IETF.  I'm a coauthor of the RFCs specifying the diff-serv QoS architecture and the resulting modifications to the IP protocol header.  I'm also the co-chair of the IP Storage WG where work takes place on storage protocols over IP and a member of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Technical Council.

For more information about Mach, try the Mach Project Home Page at CMU's School of Computer Science, even though nobody there works on it any longer. Among the potentially useful information residing there is my Ph.D. thesis.

Home

My wife and I live in a 100+ year old victorian house with a mansard roof in West Acton, Mass. We have a nifty new scanner, so there should be a picture of it on this web site before too long.
