Shotokan karate is an excellent form of self defense that is a blend of two traditional schools of Okinawan karate: Shorin, characterized by light, flexible movements, and Shorei, emphasizing strength in movement. The result is fast, powerful movements with an emphasis on good form and equal usage of foot and hand techniques. One of the results of daily karate practice is a strong, healthy body and the knowledge of how to protect yourself in a variety of situations.
