Gadget Pipe from Germany |
There is a long history of pipes with separate bowls and shanks, such as Falcon and Kirsten. This is a modern version with a rather edgy shape, made in Germany. It has a tulip shaped bowl with excellent grain, a reverse taper metal plenum to which it attaches and a real vulcanite taper bit. The shank is drilled for a 9 mm filter, but it smokes very nicely without a filter. This pipe smokes nicely....cool, dry and sweet and it is in excellent condition. |

Da Venci |
The nomanclature has been buffed out and is difficult to read. I am not familiar with the brand of pipe and can assume that by the name, it's from Italy. The stem does not fit well and has some minor burn marks on the rim. This would make a great "work pipe". There seems to be a couple small fills and it appears that someone (not me) tried to sand the surface. There are few sand paper marks. |

Dunhill Early Morning 50g |
Here is a sealed tin of RARE Early Morning. Sweet Oriental carefully blended with Bright and Red Virginias, pressed and lightly stoved. This is a medium-cut latakia-oriental blend consisting of roughly 60% medium-brown and 40% darker, blackish tobaccos. Since Dunhill stopped importing in the US, this blend has been hard to find. I date my tins when I buy them...this tin is dated December 2006, so it's an old tin! |

Dunhill Nightcap 50g |
Here is a sealed tin of RARE Nightcap. A mottled blackish-brown base with medium and light brown specks and threads throughout. For those who like the dark and strong stuff, this is great. There is "lots" of latakia (I think I read 50% somewhere) for a strong, smooth, smoky taste that gets peppery toward the bottom of the bowl thanks to the addition of perique. Since Dunhill stopped importing in the US, this blend has been hard to find. I date my tins when I buy them...this tin is dated December 2006, so it's an old tin! |
