This 8,400 square-foot addition to an existing Lutheran Church provided
a new Sanctuary and Sacristy, Offices, Classrooms, a Music/Choir Room
and a new Narthex. Placed at the forefront of the site, the Sanctuary
with its 56-foot high tower acts as a traditional welcoming beacon along
the commercial strip of the highway. The new masonry walls incorporate
string courses and quoins of brick matching the original Church. The
interior of the Sanctuary has been designed to complement the liturgical
tradition of the congregation, and the color palette selected to harmonize
with the exterior materials of the Church. The chancel furniture and
the pews were custom designed in natural cherry with mahogany accents.
Since the Church faces west, the last rays of the setting sun are reflected
in the reflective portion of the tower glass, highlighting the cross which
is composed of milk white diffuse glass and illuminated by the interior
Sanctuary lighting. The interior also features one of the last organs
produced by the Moeller Organ company of Hagerstown, MD.
