Development of the Florida National Scenic Trail began with volunteers of the Florida Trail Association more than twenty-five years ago. Even though 1000 miles of the Florida Trail are available for extended hiking opportunities, missing sections do exist. Today, FTA volunteers and state, and Federal agencies are working to fill the gaps and maintain the trail.

Tennessee Chattanooga Hiking Club http://www.chattanooga.net/hiking/index.html P.O. Box 1443 Chattanooga TN 37401 We maintain the Pot Point Loop Trail, which is an 11.9 mile loop on the southern end of the Cumberland Trail in the Prentice Cooper State Forest near Chattanooga. We are also currently restoring the Licklog Ridge Trail in the Big Frog Wilderness in southeastern Tennessee. This trail, which had been neglected in recent years, is about six miles long, climbs 2500 ft, and is quite old. It was originally built about 1920 and was improved by the CCC in the 1930's. We have completed about three miles of heavy brush clearing and about 4 miles of sawing out blowdowns, and anticipate completing the rest of this project in 1999.
