Montana Pacific Northwest Trail

 The Pacific Northwest Trail (PNT) runs 1200 miles from the Continental Divide to the Pacific Ocean through  the Rocky Mountains, Selkirk Mountains, Pasayten Wilderness, North Cascades, Olympic Mountains, and Wilderness Coast. The trail crosses 3 National Parks and 7 National Forests.

The Chinook Trail is a proposed and presently worked on 200 mile loop trail that will encirlcle the mighty Columbia River Gorge. The trail will stretch from Vancouver, WA 100 miles east down the Columbia River Gorge then cross the Gorge to Biggs, OR and head back west to Portland, OR. The trail is a volunteer effort developed by the non-profit trail organization Chinook Trail club. As of present the Chinook Trail is only partly completed from Vancouver, WA to the PCT on the WA side of the Columbia. The DTA is an organization dedicated to developing a trail system from Canada to Mexico principally through the High Desert Plateau regions of Montana, Idaho, Oregon. Nevada & California. We presently have trails established and trail guides published for 8 sections in Oregon and Northern Nevada.

The 2300 acre HBRA (aka Buford Park, Mt. Pisgah) is the largest park in the Lane County park system. It contains 1520' Mt. Pisgah and sits at the confluence of the Middle and the Coast Forks of the Willamette River. The Friends of Buford Park and Mt. Pisgah (FBP) are a non-profit group dedicated to support and enhance the HBRA. The group organizes trail maintenance, wildlife study and native plant restoration projects using volunteer help.

You may want to help with trail construction a few hours one day, or you may help out regularly. Trail patrol requires a training session and a commitment of at least 24 hours per year (18 hr./year for students)

Volunteers are now constructing an historic recreational trail in the Stevens Pass area of the Washington Cascades, sixty miles northeast of Seattle. The first six trail miles are already open to the public. All work parties carpool from Bothell Park & Ride, SR 522 and Kaysner Way. Leave at 7:15 am to arrive at the trailhead by 8:45 am, and leave the trailhead at 4:00 pm to return to Seattle by 5:45 pm.
