OHIO State Parks http://www.dnr.ohio.gov/parks/volunteer/default.htm To Adopt-A-Trail, contact the park of your choice and let the manager know of your desire to help. A list of park addresses and phone numbers is included at this site. A volunteer contract agreement which specifies the guidelines of the program will be signed by adopters and the park manager.Volunteers who choose to Adopt-A-Trail will receive training and instruction on proper trail maintenance techniques. All necessary tools and equipment will be provided. A sign will be placed at the entrance to each adopted trail indicating the trail adopter's name(s).

The Appalachian Trail Caretaker Program is intended to improve the "A.T. experience" in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The A.T. caretaker program is run jointly by the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club (SMHC), Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the Appalachian Trail Conference (ATC). Caretakers must be approved by all three entities. A training session is provided. The Caretaker will backpack in to either the Icewater Spring, Russell Field, Silers Bald, or Tricorner Knob A.T. shelters, as assigned.
