Clubs

There are a few good clubs for people with a hearing loss. One in particular for the CI is called Cochlear Implant Association, Inc. (CIAI). I am a member and enjoy the quarterly newsletter CONTACT.

CONTACT is very informative and has articles written by CI users. CIAI has a web site where a person can get information about membership and conventions. In addition, there are links to other CI related resources.

On-line Support

I belong to a list serve that is for Cochlear Implant users or any professionals, family members, and friends of CI users. This is Automatic digest processor
LISTSERV@yorku.ca . The members of this forum are very warm, supportive and very smart. If you have a problem, they have the answer! There are also areas on CompuServe in the Disabilities Forum, and AOL in the Deaf Forum section, for CI users. I found the CI list serve to be the best. There is no animosity in the group and only sharing and caring is found among the wonderful people there.

Another club is self-help for Hard of Hearing People or SHHH. This organization has a web site with links to any kind of information about hearing loss. Check their site out at http://www.shhh.org/
