Painting is poetry that is seen and not heard, and
poetry is painting that is heard but not seen

It is so dark
These mornings
As if night
Has invaded the day
Declaring a victory
For black

Revelations, Illusions, and True Confessions: The Spiritual Journey Demystified

I wrote this guide to Awakening as a combined textbook, storybook, and workbook.  My desire is bring greater awareness and peace to every facet of the reader’s life.  I’ve included self-revealing tales about myself to show how Waking Up occurs amid ordinary events.  Throughout the book I teach the art of working with inner guidance, and point out pitfalls and illusions on the Path.

My writing reflects a lifelong inquiry into the relationship between consciousness and human experience, an appreciation of many sacred traditions, and twenty years work as hands-on healer and spiritual coach.  I offer Revelations, Illusions, and True Confessions to anyone who is curious about, dedicated to, or disillusioned by the inner journey.

—Sarah Eames, author

“In a world that is rapidly changing, at a time when the call to Awaken pulsates within, we are given less and less slack to wander off course.  We’re required to be more and more skilled at sensing when a particular stance, behavior, or plan of action has ceased to be relevant, so that we can make an inspired response to the situation at hand.”

Friends Beginnings on the Land

George School Class of 1954 Fiftieth Reunion
For Wilhelminia Braddock Branson Class of 1953
With gratitude for a Quaker Scholarship

In the midst of a Quaker community

Our beginnings on adjoining farms

A stile connecting us and our grandparents

On that stile hours of exchanges

Values, visions, challenges, wit

Searching to journey with God

Then to George School---our founder George Fox

Seeking, thinking with new friends

From and in a global world with many religions

Friends Meeting for Worship

Learning to learn---liberal arts and beyond

Accessible faculty and Mr. McFeely, Head

Living together to weave our George School community

And our future world community with people of color

Urban and world work camps

Ever evolving, centering

God guiding continually...

Perfect Companions

Ann Stover Hollinger

We get along just fine, thank you,

We're compatible as can be.
No one can ever break us apart,
Myself and me.

We don't drink, we don't smoke,
We like to eat the same,
If one wants to go somewhere,
The other is always game.

We can say and do whatever we please,
No fear of rejection here.
No expectations that won't be met,
Communication is clear.

It took such a very long time to find
A person who'd suit to a Tee.
We'll go through life to the end of our days,
Myself and me.

Ann has written and published a book of poetry that she calls Steering Wheel Poems, because most have been written while she is alone in the car and scratched out on a pad while driving. It is in it's third printing and a wonderful reflection of her inner self.

                           A Teacher Speaks

Be grateful for the little things;
They are, after all, the most important.
Cultivate appreciation early,
to stand you in good stead when you are old.

Smiles and tears,
hopes and fears.....

Earth and sky,
a leaf, a sigh...

Designs in the sand,
the clasp of a hand...

Nurture these.  Take care of them,
these tiny sparks of divinity.
They are all we have, really.
They are all we need, at last.

Sylvia Kelsey Spotts

"I am (we are) well, and most grateful for the fruits given to me at GS.  God bless all!"

Climb the mountains and get their good things.
Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.

John Muir
