The Background Shuffle

The background for this page is from Gini's  favorite artwork, "Channel Cat". See "Then and Now, page 3" for a better version. (Or click here)
Gini is the artist.

Here's the deal
Members of the class of '54 are invited to send images (preferably small .gif or .jpg files) that can be used as "backgrounds". Pages and table-cells can be assigned backgrounds. If you supply a graphic, and I can figure out where to use it with your guidance,  where it won't clash too glaringly with the other content of the page or cell, then your graphic will be assigned as a background somewhere on the site. In addition your first name and last-name-initial will appear to affix blame.

Hints
If you see a page with a background you like, right-clicking (MS Internet Explorer) displays a menu with an an option to save the background on your machine.  Send me a copy of the resulting file. Generally we're after textures and patterns, rather than colors alone. Usually these are small .gif files the browser "tiles" throughout the space available. However, if you send me a real picture of any size I'll work on adjusting its brightness and contrast until it can be used as a background.

Bigger pictures can be made to not tile, and instead simply fill the background as a single image.  They can even be made into "watermarks" with the page content scrolling over them. So, we are not necessarily limited to small files.

You can always just send the URL (or the picture, attached or embedded) to me directly by email.

Always include a suggestion or two concerning where it might be tried out as a background. You're never stuck with any one choice. We can always try any number of different places until one is found that seems right. Experimenting is practically my middle name.

Culprits Table
The table below shows some candidates already available. We'll add any you supply. (On a first come, first served basis you can claim any of the examples below that do not yet have an attached claim-holder name below the image, though you then owe a replacement when you get around to it. Make your pick on the message board. Identify your selection by the image-name at the top of each square.)
