The Mad Dawgs are a Men's and Coed team
that I run for Yankee C-, C, and C+ tournaments. I'm hoping to be able to move it up over the rankings in time. The team does NOT practice together, a disadvantage, but given there are now over 100 people on the team, and they live in Manchester NH to Newport RI, and from Boston to Springfield;
there's really no good central location for everyone.

What we do offer is playing time. I try to send teams every weekend. If you're interested in playing in a particular tournament, send me some mail. On the Tuesday before the tournament, I take the best six and make a team, then the next six, and so on. I then send out mail listing who's on the team(s).

Up until this point, you can back out at anytime without a problem. Though I do appreciate it if you don't put in for every tournament, and then back out of 98% of them. When the team composition mail goes out, I need a confirm/deny response. If you confirm that you're happy with the team and would like to play, then I expect you at the gym that weekend unless a dire emergency comes up. If you want to back out on that Tuesday because something has come up, or I've put you on a team with someone you loathe, then no problem, just let me know you can't make it. This appears to work especially well for folks who practice with other clubs, but want to pick up the occasional extra game or two.

If you do commit on Tuesday and then end up backing out, I may need to have you pay me your tournament fee and possibly the teams entry fee if I can't replace you and I end up owing $$$ to the Tournament Director. I'll only charge you what comes out of my pocket in these situations. In over 10 years I've not yet had to do this as I've been able to find replacement players, but there's always the first time

I think that's it in a nutshell. There are no fees to be on board the Mad Dawgs other than the tourney fees that your participate in. If you're not familiar with Yankee, it costs $32 a season (which runs from September 1 - August 31) to be a member, and each tournament costs an additional $20 to $25. Tournaments generally consist of eight 21 point rally games, and playoffs for the top teams of the day.
