The WSS

The water system has been installed. (the water level balls have not been installed yet)

  See Instructions Below.

Here is a schematic of the WSS (Water Storage System)

To Fill System:

Make sure camp is warm before attempting to fill pipes!

Make sure all valves are open (they should be).  2 in bathroom sink, 2 in kitchen sink, 4 in shower stall, and the water heater (twists open).

Put short hose on water heater and put the other end in the shower.

Set up outdoor hose and water pump.  The hose should be uncoiled and checked for kinks, then attach to the PVC fitting hanging outside the camp by the propane tanks.

Set up pump – Fill with gas/oil mixture.  Prime with water until full then attach hose, try to fill suction hose as much as possible then attach to pump (white fitting will strip so just get it good and snug).  Turn choke on, switch on (rabbit), and start pump, turn choke off as soon as possible.  MAKE SURE PUMP IS PUMPING WATER!  (if you don’t see water coming from the water heater into the shower within a minute or so it may not have primed itself).

Close the kitchen sinks cold valve (the one on the right), then let water flow from the water heater for 2 minutes (to clean out all debris left in tanks).  Then close the water heater valve and remove hose.

As soon as water comes out of the remaining cold valves close them. (also close the drain valve in the shower – the one on the left very low).  As soon as water starts coming out of the hot water valves close them as well.

The front pipe is full when the water overflows into the shower through the overflow line.  At this point the pipe in the back room is about 1/3 full, if that's all the water you need then shut off the pump, if you want to fill the rear pipe all the way then close the valve on the front tanks "overflow line" which is located in the loft just before the T running into the shower.  Both pipes are full when the water overflows into the shower through the rear overflow line.  When this happens turn off the pump.  Wind up hose - making sure to get out as much water as possible, drain water from pump (you can turn it over and let the water run out of where the hose attaches, but you have to it several times to get ALL the water out).  Let pump cool then put away in rubbermaid container.

Turn on Propane for water heater and follow instructions on the tank to light.  Set the temp for 1 notch higher than warm.

 To Shut Down System:

Shut off Water Heater and turn off Propane outside.

If the pipes have a lot of water left in them then attach the 50 foot hose to the drain in the shower and run it outside somewhere and drain it, if there isn’t much left then you can just let it drain into the shower.  Once the pipes are empty open all valves (2 in the kitchen, 2 in the bathroom, and 4 in the shower.  Attach the short hose to the water heater and drain remaining water into buckets if needed (4 to flush the outhouse, etc.) otherwise attach the 50 footer to the water heater and drain outside.  It takes a LONG time for the water heater to drain so allow extra time when shutting down.  Once water heater is empty remove hose and place 5 gallon bucket under OPEN water heater valve to catch any water drippings.

MAKE SURE ALL VALVES ARE OPEN WHEN YOU LEAVE.
