The Fragility of Ice
**This was written one week before I quit skating at the Novice level.
I returned 4 months later and have found a new love for it. Don't give up girls!
She seemed unbreakable
Her determination and power shone through
With each passing of a day
Her dedication and spirit grew.
How many more sleepless nights?
Before we recognize
The fragility of ice.
But inevitably, one day
Her sunshine turned to black
The twinkle had long escaped her eyes
Her precious dream was beginning to crack
How many more sleepless nights?
Before we recognize
The fragility of ice.
Shattered and crushed
She quietly stood aside
Waiting for someone to say
That it's OK to cry
But nobody came, no one saw her crack
So she walked away
And didn't look back.
How many more painful fights?
Before we except
The fragility of ice.
