TONIA
- She bursts upon an unsuspecting land
- in a blaze of glory;
- Dazzling, whirling, twirling, blinding
- focused energy:
- Beauty such as none have seen before,
- To pierce the heart of even the most
- stoic.
- Ascending as an eagle climbs the sky
- on wings of fire,
- Bound not by any laws of man or nature:
- O glorious freedom! The heavens are
- her destiny;
- The limits of her conquests are
- self-drawn.
- Bathed in misty, golden light,
- her fire seems to melt the ice
- Upon which blades of silver pure
- draw figures of unearthly grace;
- And the sound of susurrance, which
- plays beneath the symphony
- Defines the boundaries wherein
- the watcher's heart does swell.
- Yet, through this orchestrated fury,
- a stately radiance brightly shines;
- A grace not seen within this world
- since time before she came to be;
- When form and beauty were more loved
- than bold and brazen power:
- And this is that which makes her more
- than others of her practiced art.
- And now, goes forth to grace the world
- with something gone these many years;
- To soothe our planet's savage breast
- with enchanting song and dance;
- And give us that which some would say
- is, in truth, a contradiction:
- A Twenty-first Century Lady.
