Regarding "How old is too old?"

I am asking with regards to the question, "How old is too old?" which was posted on Oct 24, 1999.   At 18 years of age, doesn't that eliminate her from competing, since she has to be done with Intermediate when they turn 18?   How does that work, or am I confused?   My daughter turns 18 in two weeks and we are under the idea that she MUST compete at Novice level now-no choice.....Thanks! Linda

Linda says:
The qualifying competitions are the only ones with an age restriction. The upper limit for Intermediate is 18 years. This does mean that if your daughter wants to enter a regional qualifying competition, she must move up to Novice. If she is not planning on competing in a qualifying competition, she can stay at Intermediate. There are many competitions that she can still enter at Intermediate and be above 18 years of age. The number of Intermediate competitors who are also 18 years old may be small.
