Is two years old too young to start skating? My niece is going to start taking lessons this month. She has been on the ice once before and really enjoyed it and insisted on stepping on the ice by herself. She even laughed when she fell down and someone mentioned that she had a great attitude at least. TM |

Two years old is young but it sounds like your neice is enjoying herself. You do want to be careful that she is progressing at a pace that is comfortable for her. There are group programs geared for the tot skater. It may be advisable to stay with a similar group or a coach that has had experience with the very young skater.

This age isn't too young as long as your neice is enjoying herself, wants to ice skate and isn't being pushed into it. Skating programs for "Tots" are a great way to introduce a young child to ice skating. Some programs even encourage parents to join with their child!
