Coaches Assisting Other Skaters

The coaches at our rink, look out only for their skaters. I think they should also, assist other skaters from our rink, especially at competitions. Am I on the right track? DNB

Linda says:
Coaches of private students charge for the time they spend with a skater and consequently assist those skaters. Coaches who assist other students at competitions are probably getting paid to do so. Each coach has a different style and may prefer to designate who should fill in at a competition. A different coaching style could be unsettling to a competitor especially when they are already nervous. Although coaches may not look out for other students, they should be courteous and friendly. A few kind words and a hello can go a long way.

Marcia's Mom says:
You would have to be a little more clear as to what you mean about "ASSIST" other skaters.  In my experience, my daughter's pro would put her on at a competition.  If she was not going to be able to make the competition, SHE would find someone to cover. Skate happy!
