Is she the competitive type or not?

Recently my both of my daughters competed.  For my youngest daughter it was her third competition but for the other daughter is was her first....both of them didn't place as well as they had hoped.... both of them were disappointed at first but it was my youngest daughter who able to see the silver lining of her placement...considering it was her first as a prelim. skater but my eldest cried her eyes out for the whole entire day...but my question is how do i know if my child especially my oldest is up for the next competition?? Is she the competitive type or not? Shawna

Linda says:
For the next competition, make sure your older daughter has an understanding that she may not place as well as expected. Also talk to her about this competition. She may have had unrealistic expectations. She may not be the competitive type. You will have a better idea after a few competitions. Talk to her about competing. She may not want to compete.

Amanda'sMom says:
Be sure your daughter understands what to expect at competitions. Sometimes children see others in the sport and expect the same results for themselves, placing unnecessary expectations on themselves. Only after competing several times, will you know if your daughter is the competitive type.
