First ISI competition
|
My daughter is in ISI Alpha and has been skating for 4 months. I want to know what to expect at my daughter's upcoming September competition and is there anything to do that could help her have a better chance of winning? Please answer my question A.S.A.P. because her competition is just around the corner on Labor Day weekend. Thank You very much and have a great day! MVF |
Linda says:
You can talk to your daughter's coach and ask what she would do to get ready. The things you'll want to know are: what time to get to the rink, when you should get dressed and put on make-up, how the hair should be done and a general overview of what to expect. It can be helpful to go to a competition to watch before you actually do one. Ask other parents for any helpful hints they may have.
Try to focus on skating well and having a good time rather than the results. Where your daughter places depends on how she skates in comparison to the others in her group.
Marcia's Mom says:
The best thing I have learned, and it took me a while, is not to go to a competition expecting your skater to win. I have found that if your skater skates well, and up to her ability, and feels good about what she has done that she can build upon that. ( At this point this is where your support and encouragement comes in.)
Of course we all want to win but, the judges don't always see what we think they should see, or what we see. The best thing to do for her to have success, is for you to give her support, encouragement, and plenty of PRACTICE time. Good luck!
