I hate skating!
|
I’m 11 yrs old and started skating when I was 6yrs. I want to quit skating cuz I hate it sooo much. but my mom won’t let me quit. I told her that i want to quit but she said that she spent too much money on this sport and that I shouldn’t quit. She is also on the board of our club. I also hate my coach so much. She’s mean and bossy and always yells at me and yels at other coachs students too. My friend used to have the same coach but she has a new coach now and is really happy. I asked my mom if I can have a new coach too and my mom won’t let me. She thinks that its better for me that I keep taking lessons from my coach who is also the skating director of our club. What do I do? I hate skating! Skater Girl |
Linda says:
Your mother must have her reasons for wanting you to continue skating with the same coach. Perhaps you could talk to her about skating less rather than quit. If you were to stop skating, what would you do instead? If you do stop skating, you should have another activity. You should make a list of what you like and dislike about skating and the reasons. If you dislike your coach, write why and give examples. Bring this list to your mother and discuss it. Try to make a compromise. You also need to listen to your mother's reasons before coming to a decision.
Marcia's Mom says:
I'm sad to hear that you are having these feelings. Skating should be fun for you. It IS too expensive a sport to have your child unhappy. If you are sure that you want to quit skating, and not just having a tough time of it right now, you should sit down with your mom and your coach and talk to them calmly. Maybe there is something else you would like to do and you could always go back to skating after a little break. Good Luck.
