Program to Reorganize Templates and Symbols
This is from the README.TXT file for the program:
I have long wondered why DataCAD had its Template files in a CSI format, while their accompanying Symbol folders ("folders" and "directories" are the same thing, depending on whether you are used to the DOS or Windows environments) were not. They are simply lumped together in an unorderly fashion under the \SYM sub-directory. Doing so makes it difficult to find and manage not only the symbol files themselves, but also the template files. What template file does the "Bsbnc3" folder belong to? It's difficult to tell.
The INSTALL.EXE program will install the standard DataCAD templates and symbols in the CSI format, using the "RELATIVE PATH" method (see the explanation at the end of this README.TXT file). The new TPL (Template) and SYM (Symbol) files are meant to replace DataCAD's default files. Your new TPL and SYM directories will still contain the exact symbols found on DataCAD's CD-ROM, but in an orderly CSI format and WITH NEW, BETTER, AND MORE DESCRIPTIVE NAMES!!
Now, you may be saying to yourself, "DataCAD's installation program already allows me to put my files in CSI format." If this is what you are thinking, you're only partly correct. The DataCAD installation ONLY installs the TEMPLATE (TPL) files into a CSI format, while all of the symbol folders are NOT (I repeat, NOT) placed in CSI format. If you don't believe me, open up your SYM directory now and look for yourself.
All but about 6 template files have
been renamed to make them easier to figure out. I tried to make it very
clear when something is a 3D symbol, as opposed to a 2D one. Here are some
examples:
| OLD NAME | NEW NAME |
| FDSK1.TPL | 3D-DESK1.TPL |
| MDSK1.TPL | 3D-DESK2.TPL |
| SINK1.TPL | ROUNDSNK.TPL |
| HC2.TPL | HCTUBSHW.TPL |
