DataCAD How-To's

OUR CURRENT KEYBOARD MACRO:

The following is the keyboard macro we currently use in our office. We feel that Multi-Scale Plotting, 3D GotoViews and Clip Cubes are so important to our 2D drafting work that a great many of our keyboard shortcuts are dedicated to these functions.

Your own use of keyboard macros will undoubtedly be a personal and functional decision, so feel free to use these as a start. Some of them may seem to you like they are a waste of good keyboard shortcut keys, but if you do a lot of Multi-Scale Plots (and you should), and you keep your project and details orderly with 3D GotoViews, you should try them out for a while. You might be surprised how much time they save you.

You might also ask why I got rid of so many of the standard shortcuts like stretch, etc. Well that's because we have them in our icon bar across the top of the screen. We feel it's still faster than mousing through the standard menus, and that the time we save with our new keyboard shortcuts outweighs the time it takes to move the mouse to the icon bar.

We also don't use the Alt+N shortcut since the Windows version of DataCAD does not support it. That is because the Windows OS uses Alt+N to open a New file.

Here is what each shortcut does:
