Khan

Cloned Khan and The Genesis Device

Since TMP came out I always wanted to build a Khan deck, but never had the right idea. I heard about the difficulites like the attribute reduction by the Ceti Eel and that you have to discard personnel without it. Therfore I got the idea of cloning Khan and his unique fellow and using a Clone Machine on Boreth and Klingons/NA has affiliation.
But how to get Khan in the first turn? Stock several of him into the deck, which would be fine since I can clone him or put one into the tent and hope to get this doorway into your first hand. I was able to trade for 4 Khans, not enough to play wihtout the tent.
I don't like decks with 8 or 9 tent cards so I decided to try the Beyond the Subatomic (BTS)/Palor Toff (PT) trick.

Strategy:

With 15 BTS and Masaka I always :) get a BTS in my starting hand, if I don't get either a tent doorway or Khan himself, I play the BTS and call "doorway". Since Q's Tent is the only doorway in the deck, I get one and play it to receive Khan and play him for free. With another BTS (or retrieved by PT) I call "incident" and I get a Ceti Eel, the only incident cards in the deck, play it for free and can control a personnel (regular card play) with it.

The requirements for cloning are fulfilled by Koroth or J'Dan, who can be downloaded by Assign Support Personnel.

The game continues with playing BTS/PT to get whatever is needed, e.g. Eel or personnel. It is of course crucial to get the Regenerate and form a new draw deck at some point. The Burial Ground is played to get rid of my own dilemmas.

I seed the Cryosatellite/Genesis Device under Study Stellar Collision, an easy mission which is solved with one skill. I tried to focus on missions with easy requirements, one or two skills, except Boreth of course. In addtion a Q's Planet can be pulled from the tent with a spare Genesis Device, either to slow the game if opponent reaches the 100 point mark or to trigger opponent's Dead End.

Then with the Device aboard and one mission solved I should need only one more "cheap" mission like Relief Mission to get the win....

Possible Problems:

Sure, Battledecks are a problem, but, well I take the chance. Another problem are the low attributes of "eeled" personnel (-3). This is hard to compensate especially for wall dilemmas that call for attributes. I added a PADD for this. Kevin Uxbridge and of course Disruptor Overload are a problem as well, Oof! and Amanda take hopefully care of that.

Another problem is, the deck takes its time. If the opponent breezes through my dilemmas, I try to slow him with Q-Flash and Q's Planet.

The deck is low on personnel, a Next Emanation might hurt.

Conclusion:

Unfortunately I was never able to play this deck at a tournament, the scene collapsed pretty much after the 2e announcement. I had two casual games against a friend. One was a terrible loss (battledeck) and the other was a win (vs. a "normal deck").
