LAST UPDATE....
Saturday November 18, 2006
Cleaning is always the first step and after being stored in a barn for the past thirty years...well enough said.
I literally hosed out the interior. I need to do it one more time just to get it good and clean. Do the windows
and all the gauges and get into all the little corners of the interior. Still smells like a barn only a damp one now...LOL.
Well life being what it is and Murphy's Law being what it is... am I right????
First thing is to get the flat tire off so I can at least roll this baby around if need be...with the help of half the neighborhood, at 50 I'm the youngest around
these parts...man I can't deal with a coronary just trying to move a
car in the driveway. Remember what I said about Murphy's Law...a picture speaks a thousand words...I had only two
Ah S*** . Well it spiraled down from that point on...of course. Murphy's Law will prevail when ever possible... am I right ???? Where should I begin...???
The carburetor linkage was rusted solid as well as the carburetor. Also rusted solid in order of discovery...
alternator, water pump, and let's not forget the BLOCK...yep rusted tight. I will address these issues later.
My friend Richard helped out with a battery so I started checking out the electrical. Lights worked at least the ones
that are still left on the car. Windshield wipers also worked. Horn didn't work...so I removed the high low horns and seem to think some small animal kicked the bucket inside them. Both sound like
a baby rattle...small bones. New ones coming up...
Rear window doesn't work either... but I need to investigate this a bit further. The switch is wired but the window shows signs of sealer being applied to the weather stripping. How odd....
Update!!! picked up a replacement rear window assembly on Ebay from no11restoreman . Check out his site...
Rear key didn't come with the car so I had to pick the lock... this was a first for me. I mean I never had the need to do something like this before until now. Couldn't see drilling out the lock.
More later....as always.
