Information:

Joost Hite, his wife and daughter Mary, with sixteen Dutch and German families whom he brought with him to settle his land, sailed from Strasbourg, Germany, on his two boats, the brigantine "Swift" and the schooner, "Friendship". They reached Kingston in 1710. In 1716 they went south to Pastorius' Colony, Germantown, PA. Where he bought and sold land, introduced weaving, and established a mill which is standing on Perkiomen Creek at Schencksville. He made his will in Fredrick Co., VA. In 1757, died in 1760, and is buried at Bunker Hill Churchyard.
