Information:

Leyden Town Hall record 4-6-1663: "Jacques DuBois, young man from La Basse accompanied by Phillipe DuBois, his cousin, was betrothed to Pierronne Bentyn, young maiden, from near Lille, accompanied by her sister Marie Bentyn, also present as a witness.

Leyden Walloon Church record 4/25/1663: Married, Jacques DuBois & Pierronne Bentyn, who were betrothed 4/6/1663.

Jacques DuBois was granted a license to sell his house in Leyden in 1675 as this fact is recorded in the Leyden Town Hall Archives for that year.  He and his family left Leyden early in that year for on April 15, 1675, letter if dismissal from the church at Leyden for Jacques DuBois and wife, Pierronne Bentyn, was issued and recorded.

Note by M.C. DuBois-Guere, 1871: The custom was to baptise infants on the day of birth or the day thereafter,  Brothers were generally sponsors for each other's children.  Tradition says that a farm now owned by a Leyden family, near Lille, was many years ago occupied by a DuBois family.  The DuBois names which appear in the records at Lille were of brothers and cousins residing at La Basse and the vicinity surrounding Wicres.  The church at Lille was their parrish church.

Documentary History of New York & Holland Society record: Jacques DuBois accompanied by his wife and seven children, all born in Europe, arrived at Esopus (Kingston) during 1675.  Among the children were sons Jacques, Jean and Pierre and four daughters.

Jacques DuBois in Leydon was a manufacturer of laces, grosgrains and cloth. He was obviously a man of substantial means.
