Lotus Notes Consultant

Primary responsibilities include Lotus Notes consulting, AS/400 implementation of Domino/Notes, application development, third-party product integration, Domino/Notes R5 upgrades, website development, Exchange to Notes migrations, Domino/Notes user training, and Help documentation development.

Essex Technology Group, Inc. Sample Project #1 – Migrated an AS/400-based Domino R5 server to new AS/400 hardware, including the design and installation of an iNotes/QuickPlace/Sametime Domino environment utilizing multiple Domino server partitions

Strauss Discount Auto Sample Project #1 Provided technical support in designing and implementing a Domino R5 system hosting a public website, Notes mail, iNotes for Web Access and SMTP mail routing through multiple firewalls

Philipp Brothers Chemical Sample Project #1 – Migrated Microsoft Outlook users to iNotes for Outlook across the globe, setting up co-existence with a Microsoft Exchange server, refining the existing Domino R5 server configuration on the AS/400, improving both security and system performance

American Water Works Sample Project #1 – Developed a Lotus Domino/Notes R5 Migration Implementation strategy and migrated key Domino servers to Domino R5, migrated Notes clients to Notes R5 and provided Domino/Notes R5 training to administrators and end users.

American Water Works Sample Project #2 – Migrated a Windows NT-based Domino R4 server to the AS/400 using partitioned Domino for AS/400 R4 servers. This task included training administrators, configuring the SMTP MTA on the AS/400, setting up the backup processes and creating multiple partitions to increase efficiency of the Domino system

American Water Works Sample Project #3 – Migrated an AS/400 Domino R4 server to Domino for AS/400 R5 server. This task included training administrators on Domino R5 administration and Notes client migration, reconfiguring SMTP mail routing, customization of the server configuration to increase efficiency utilizing Domino R5 settings.

American Water Works Sample Project #4 – Developed a Domino-based portal for American Water Works employees to provide access to their Notes mail using web browsers external to the organizations network.

GeoSphere Sample Project #1 – Developed the Help documentation for the Window NT-based "PlantSafe" product. This task included development of the structure of the Help application, support for context-sensitive Help from the "PlantSafe" application, investigation of the "PlantSafe" product and interviews with developers to populate the Help text. The utility used primarily in the development of the actual Help files was the ForeHelp product.

GeoSphere Sample Project #2 – When GeoSphere acquired the San Francisco-based firm AcuTech, I assisted in developing the implementation plan for its e-mail, network, and internet access consolidation pieces, including the successful MS Exchange to Lotus Notes/Domino R5 migration of all user mail databases.

GeoSphere Sample Project #3 – GeoSphere is a venture-capital-funded software product development company that created a WinNT-based "PlantSafe" product for emergency response critical situations at chemical and petroleum plants. I helped them integrate and test this Delphi 5 coded PlantSafe product with Lotus Notes for its necessary document management features, using a third-party Delphi<->Notes component product called DNotes.

GeoSphere Sample Project #4 – Developed the corporate web presence for GeoSphere based upon requirements identified in coordination with the management, marketing and development offices of GeoSphere. This task included development of a web site utilizing HTML, javascript and Notes design elements, connectivity to newsfeeds, incorporation of Domino applications, and configuration of the Domino R5 server to host the web site.

GeoSphere Sample Project #5 – Created a Sales Order Tracking database in Notes for tracking sales leads from identification through sales and billing. This application included automated agents for workflow processing, groups, roles, configuration profile documents, automatic unique numbering, and consolidation with a Domino application controlling customer data.

GeoSphere Sample Project #6 – Created a Domino-based Customer Service website with links to several ancillary Notes databases, such as FAQs, Problem Reports, Software Downloads, Recent Events, and Technical Support Discussions - all of these applications allowing everyone in the Customer Service department to contribute technical content real-time to the support website.

GeoSphere Sample Project #7 – When GeoSphere first decided to implement Lotus Notes (R4.6) as their e-mail/groupware/website platform, I installed their NT Servers and network, created their Notes organizational unit hierarchy and groups, installed the Domino Servers and Notes clients, and provided user training. When R5 was released, I assisted in R5 upgrades to the Domino Servers and Notes clients.

Nation Health Services Project #1 – Developed a Lotus Notes-based portal for employees to get access to corporate resources, multiple Notes applications, network resources and mail. This task included developing a Lotus Notes application which allowed customization of the interface by non-developers, security features to distinguish between administrators, data entry people and end users, a simplified document structure to minimize the learning curve of all users.

Lotus Notes Consultant/Project Manager

SEMCOR, Inc, Warminster, PA, 1995 - 1998

Project Manager for an Information Technologies Consulting company.

Primary responsibilities included Lotus Notes consulting, project management, application development, third-party/companion product integration, installations/upgrades, new-hire mentoring, proposal development and customer requirement identification, and user training.

Developed an emergency response system for JBA International to provide 24X7 coverage for their customers. This task included instant notification by pager for high priority items, notification by email for normal priority items, workflow processing, user accountability at all stages of the process, reports for evaluation of performance, and integration with Lotus Pager Gateway

Developed a customer order tracking application for JBA International which provided near real-time access (current within 15 minutes) to customer order information in the AS/400-based accounting system for both employees and customers via Lotus Notes. This task included communication with the AS/400 accounting system using ODBC connectivity, update redundancy to ensure data is current, notification of administrators when their attention was required, and security features which restricted access by customers only to that data which belonged to them.

Developed a Fax-back system for JBA International which provided customers automated access to customer service information which they would receive via fax. This included development of a Phone Notes application to handle the incoming phone calls and then direct the correct information to the supplied fax number, development of a customer service information application to maintain the information available via the Fax-back system, workflow and security to support the various roles of supervisor, data entry and customer, and incorporation of the Lotus Fax Server to handle outgoing faxes.

Developed a customer order tracking system for LD Caulk which provided near real-time access (current within 15 minutes) to customer order information in the AS/400-based accounting system for their employees via Lotus Notes and customers via web access. This task included communication with the AS/400 accounting system using ODBC connectivity, update redundancy to ensure data is current, and notification of administrators when their attention was required, configuration of a Domino HTTP server, security features which restricted access by customers only to that data which belonged to them.

Developed and implemented Lotus Domino/Notes infrastructures for multiple clients including JBA International; Universal Health Services; Dentsply; LD Caulk; Benefit Resources, Incorporated; Wallace & Tiernan; L3 Communications; multiple American Water Works subsidiaries.

Developed a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Domino application for Emtech which allowed them to control RMAs from the initial customer call through receipt of returned merchandise, updates in the Inventory Control System and credits from vendors. This task included development of a flexible workflow system, accountability at every stage of the process, notification emails to inform of progress or overdue actions, security features to restrict access based upon roles, and reporting features to support a myriad of corporate reporting requirements.

Developed a Sales Force Automation application for Benefit Resources, Incorporated which provided their widespread sales force to share information on sales prospects, standardize the processes and terminology and to automate a paper-process.

Provided project management, design and administration support for over 75 custom integrated Notes databases for a nationwide utility company, American Water Works, automating many of the technical discussion and document management functions within the System Engineering department. Applications developed included: Project Files and Correspondence repository; Domino-based web presence which provided access for external Contractors and Consultants to selected Domino applications; a Technical Committees database; an Engineering Drawings Management database with integrated AutoCAD file mass storage Notes databases; a Policies and Procedures database integrated with LN:DI and a Mass Storage System optical jukebox for scanned image storage; and a Project Discussions database with Notes and Web-based forms for external Contractors and Consultants to contribute.
