ROBERT LAWRENCE WEBB

1839 – 1881

 

Robert Lawrence Webb, third child of Lucius & Catherine Webb, was born on October 3, 1839.   Robert and his brother Jehu Curtis Clay, married sisters.  On the 21st of February 1861, Robert married Ellen Hughes Matthews of Cape May NJ.  Ellen was born on January 22, 1839.She was the fourth child of Sarah Clark and Thomas Matthews The Rev. J.C. Clay of Gloria Dei Church performed the ceremony.  Jehu Curtis Clay married Sarah’s sister, Ann Edmund Matthews Weeks, born January 5, 1844.

Robert Lawrence died at age 42 in June of 1881. At age 46, on Saturday, August 14, 1886, Ellen Hughes Matthews Webb married again to Preston Brearley, age 62.  The Rev. Wm. H. Avery married them at the Ascension Protestant Episcopal Church in Atlantic City, NJ City. They had no children.

 Robert and Ellen had six children:

2.                   Tryphene Matthews, b. Sunday, AM October 19, 1862 in Philadelphia, Pa. / d. January 2, 1937 age 75

3.                   Robert Daniel . b. 4:15 AM July 26, 1864 at Limerick, Montgomery Cty, Pa.

4.                   William Kerns . b. 6:00 AM on September 25, 1868 in Upper Providence Twp. Montgomery Co Pa

5.                    Wilhelmine Pauline, b. May 22, 1874 in Port Providence, Montgomery Co Pa.

Wilhelmine married Walter Gilman, b. May 31, 1876 / d. December 1966  Children:  

Ambrose Gilman, b. April 1894 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Charles Gilman, b. November 1897 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Walter Gilman, b. About 1901 in Philadelphia, Pa

6.                   Sarah Crowell Webb, b. 10:10 PM, June 3, 1876 in Port Providence, Montgomery Co Pa.
