August 2-8, 1998: Chesapeake Bay
Kohl and I sail the Catalina 22 Chesapeake Lighthouse Challenge. It's a trip 130 miles down the Chesapeake Bay, 20 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean, around Chesapeake Lighthouse, and then back home.
August 14, 1998: Yacht Club Races
Kohl, Jeff, and I out for Friday night races. Course: Start at J, BHJ (red). Winds from the SE @ 10. We had up the main and jib. Did well the first two legs, but wasted a lot of effort on the beat back to the finish line. We kept tacking into headers--a practice that must stop.
August 21, 1998: Yacht Club Races
Light winds and we were late (more than 4 minutes) to the starting line. We had winds of 1-8 and had up the main and the new genoa. Kohl, John, Jeff, and I were racing. Course: start at J, BHAJ (red). Finished second to last, but sailed well. We went for a sail out around Baltimore Light afterward. John at the tiller on the way out, Jeff for most of the way back.
August 28, 1998: Yacht Club Races
Jeff and I out for Friday night races. Winds were light 0-5 knots. We had up the main and the old genoa. Course: start at J, then AHJB. Good start and sailed with only a few tactical errors. Came in second to last again, but I think we are doing much better. I paid off Kohl today, so the partnership has come to an end. Alt Escape is all mine now.
