Alt Escape is a 1972 Catalina 22 (hull number 1343). I bought her from a friend of mine in early August 1997.

While I only had her for a little over 2 years, I had a number of adventures. I sailed across the Chesapeake, raced her on Friday nights, and cruised on the Magothy River many a summer night.

In the summer of 1998, Kohl and I took Alt Escapeon a 320 mile trip down the bay and back. You can read about our adventures on the Catalina 22 Chesapeake Lighthouse Challenge

I raced Alt Escape in a number of Friday night races, raced in the Wednesday night MRSA Corinthian class (receiving several trophy's including the best of class for the year), and sailed her whenever we could. If you'd like to take a look at the log book, it's available online.

August 1999 found me in possession of a Catalina 27. I always knew the time would come to "trade up," I didn't know it would be so soon. But I had an opportunity to buy a good boat for a good price so I took it. My new boat Dharma Bum can be seen prowling the waters of the Magothy River and the Chesapeake Bay.

In early spring of 2000, I sold Alt Escape to a guy from Annapolis. I hope she is treated well in her new home. I will always remember my first boat with great fondness.
