Every Sunday morning our youth meet for Sunday School. This is an important time for the teenagers to be together, learn together about their faith, and have a safe place to discuss issues important to young folks.
The Youth are full participants in our worship service. They are often found distributing bulletins and collecting the offering. Occasionally, the Youth Women's Quartet or the Youth Choir may sing.
The big event of the year is the Youth Mission Trip. The youth travel to rural Appalachia for a full week to repair and renovate homes. Preparation for this trip entails several weekends of working together on projects around the church.
They learn a few construction skills, but they mostly learn about teamwork. They gain self confidence and learn the importance of helping others. The trip involves hard work and great fun as they join with many other teens from around the country.
Other activities might include gathering with popcorn, cake, soda, videos, and a big-screen TV for a fun movie night; or an all-day Saturday hike in the nearby mountains, or a white-water rafting trip down the Shenandoah River.
