The corner blocks have been shaped with a gouge to match and continue the C shape of the mold (the "C-bout"). The other face of the corner blocks is shaped later. (They are left thick at this stage so they won't distort while the C-rib is clamped into place.)
The ribs are glued to the blocks (not to the mold).
