The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, College of Arts & Sciences at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN) awards this scholarship
to further an understanding among the professions regarding the importance of languages (and cultures) as 'tools of the trade' in the international business community,
providing financial support to an undergraduate student who already has shown an insight into this fact, as demonstrated by the combining of the study of an East Asian language with the preparation for a professional career.
The Eligibility Criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
A native born citizen of The United States of America, with a priority given to native born residents of The State of Indiana or The State of New Jersey.
A junior or senior year undergraduate student who is currently enrolled at Indiana University.
A combination of study concentrations (either a double major OR a major and a 'strong' minor) in a professional area (eg, business, the 'hard sciences' -- chemistry, physics, biology, etc. -- , pre-law or pre-med) AND in an East Asian language (Chinese, Japanese or Korean).
In addition, because this is an academic scholarship, the university's normal standards regarding academic performance also will apply.
