The harbor from the swing bridge |
We spent the day wandering around Belize City. The city is not exactly a happening tourist spot, but we did what sight-seeing we could. We even found a booth at the marine terminal from which we could log on to the Internet. For $5 US per half hour you got to crouch down and use a computer underneath the booth's counter. I sent home an email saying we had arrived OK.. |

I try to eat Chinese food in every country I visit. I've eaten Chinese in Italy, France, England, Canada, probably others I've forgotten, and now Belize. Actually, there are a lot of Chinese restaurants in Belize. We at at the Ocean Tea Palace. The food was pretty good - better than the place I used to frequent in Cocoa Beach, FL. We ate outside. We could admire a giant bougainvillea plant from our table. |

At 4:30 we met up with Todd, our guide, and the rest of our group. We had a group dinner (Chinese again!) and then piled into the van for a two hour ride into the mountains to Chaa Creek.
When we got to Chaa Creek we had to walk about half a mile in the dark. Todd told us to keep our flashlights pointed at the ground in front of us to make sure we didn't step on any poisonous fer de lance snakes. We all walked carefully. |
