Air Force ROTC Graduation Photo - 1981.

My AFROTC boot camp graduation photo from the summer of 1981. As a two-year cadet I was sent to Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida for six weeks of training. It was hard at times, but also quite a lot of fun. Besides meeting many cool people, we got to do a lot of thrilling things. The most exciting was a 30-minute ride in the T38 training jets pictured here. What a feeling that was! Definitely better than any amusement park ride I've ever seen. In addition we had to learn how to parachute before our flight, just in case. Third and fourth in line for most fun were survival training and marksmanship, the two times we felt most like soldiers. Rounding out the top five were the times we got to leave base and go into the town, located on the Gulf of Mexico. We had a lot of fun there. Tops on the list for least fun were running, PT, standing in line at attention all the time, formation marching and inspections, where the quarter had to bounce off the bed, or else...
