Above is my official "Delta Dogs" D-Flight photo from Air Force ROTC boot camp training in the summer of 1981. I am located in the top row, far right. The Dogs were "honor" flight, beating out the C-Flight chumps for the overall top spot during our six-week training session. The photo below on the left shows D-Flight during our initial parachute training. I am sitting with flight helmet on the far left. The photo below at right is from my Air Force ROTC graduation on May 16, 1983, when my 2nd Lieutenant bars were officially pinned on. It was a proud moment for myself and my family. My career in blue was short-lived, however, and I was honorably discharged on October 5, 1984.
A little date trivia: Exactly eight years from the day the bottom right photo was taken, on May 16, 1991, I adopted my daughter Morgan. Only three years later, on May 16, 1994 my marriage dissolution was finalized. It is also my ex-wife's birthday. Wo! When May 16 comes around I get a little anxious. I can't imagine why.
