PORTRAIT OF EINSTEIN & OTHERS BY WAYLANDE GREGORY
1905-1971 - AMERICAN
Included in his portraitures was Albert Einstein whom Gregory met at the 1939 NY World's Fair
and whom he greatly admired. Another is that of an Hungarian Freedom Fighter and a very
lovely decorative head of his mother-in-law.

brave Hungarians who gave their lives when they revolted against Russian aggression.
Right: ROSANINA: 1929; 14x10x8", Over life size; Glazed white with pastel shades on
hair and eyes. This is Greg's mother-in-law. It was always cherished by
Yolande, she kept it on one end of her kitchen table and when people admired it she was ever
so proud to state that it was her "beloved mom".

executed while Gregory was Resident Artist at Cranbrook Academy. In the Gregory home, this
work was housed on a pedestal in the indoor Garden Room and with it another awesome looking
sea creature. Among them were crystal glazed fishes. He invented the crystal glaze process.
and held the patent for many years.
