Box-Francaise (i.e.: Boxe-Francaise (in french)) Savate is a sport that includes several other disciplines. These other disciplines are regrouped under the name of "Associated Disciplines" to the Box Francaise Savate. Often they are led by a group of Savateur (heading a league) with a particular interest to specialize in one or several of these Associated Disciplines (D.A.). The leagues are under the general control of the International Federation of Savate.
WHAT
DOES "D.A" Stand for in
FIBFS&DA®,
FFBFS&DA®, USBFS&DA®
Well, "DA" stands for Disciplines Associated (Disciplines associees ®). This includes all disciplines other than Boxe-Francaise ® or Savate ®. There is a variety of Discipline that are part of the beautiful "Sport de Combat" that Savate ® is. However, in order to prevent the breaking of the federations in pieces they are regrouped under the "D.A.". Some of these Associated Disciplines bring a lot of interest to the French population that they are allowed to self control themselves under the leadership of a committee present as a subcommittee within the International Federation of Savate & Boxe Francaise. This includes the Committee of Canne & Baton ® registered as a league under the FIBFSDA ®.
These "DA" ® include but are not limited to the following:
Canne ®
Baton ®
Double canne ®
Canne savate
Canne Panache ®
Nunchaku en savate ®

Etc… (Self Defense Savate;
and teaching of all illegal ring techniques…)
Around 1790 the French Navy used to use a fighting method called "Chausson".
This method progressed with it's time to become "Boxe Francaise Savate
(French boxing Savate)". This fighting sport uses punches and kicks and
is a true gymnastic of the body and mind.
Savate Defense and Box-Francaise Savate
"Savate Defense" is the "Self Defense form of
Savate" which is taught in Savate Clubs as illegal techniques for Ring
fights. The Ring Sport of Savate (referred to as BF-Savate) requires a
total knowledge of what "Savate Defense" techniques are, in order to
practice the true form of Boxe (ie: Box) Francaise Savate (the Competition
Total Combat Ring Sport).

Individuals not able to differentiate between "Savate Defense" (also called Defense Savate) and "Regulated BF-Savate" are incapable, and not allowed to participate in Box Francaise Ring Fights as approved by the Pre-Olympic committee. Vis Versa, anyone able to fight in Box-Francaise can then incorporate any "illegal" ring techniques to fight in "Defense Savate".
As BF-Savate artist, the Savateur requires the intellectual ability to differentiate and discriminate between all Savate Techniques which make the Fighting Sport of Savate (BF-Savate) such the beautifully engineered fighting sport of the 21st Century.
Individuals are first trained in Savate Self Defense
prior to reaching the technical and intelectual ability and knowledge to
practice Boxe Francaise Savate.
The illegal techniques are still taught as illegal techniques within
the scope of "Savate (Self) Defense" or "Defense Savate".
"(Self) Savate Defense" (i.e.: "Unregulated Savate"
or "Street Savate" several other names are used...), is no more than an
Associated Discipline to the pure Competitive form of Savate.
What makes the Fighting Sport of Savate
(BF-Savate) such the beautifully engineered but most difficult fighting
sport of the 21st Century, is the fact that in BF-Savate, individuals fighting
in competition are not allowed to use the most easy and sloppy techniques
such as : a direct kick (known in Street Savate as "Coup de Pied Direct"),
the sloppy kicks such as a "hammer kick" know in "Defense Savate" as "Coup
de Pied Marteau", and other very simple kick that anyone can do without
much training.

As BF-Savate artist, the Savateur requires the intellectual ability to differentiate and discriminate between all Savate techniques in order to be able to use specifically, logically and with utmost discriminatory technical control among the most difficult "Street Savate techniques" in order to fight in BF Savate.
Individuals are first trained in Savate Self Defense
prior to reaching the technical ability to practice Box Francaise Savate.
In order to practice BF-Savate, Savateurs already simply trained in (Self)
Defense Savate or Street Savate must first have understood and memorized,
and then able to master the technical ability adapted to the knowledge
of the "Famous Savate Code" into a Competition Ring fight..
