Savate Techniques
This sample video is an excellent video to see in action a real savate
fight. This is an FIBFSDA competition fight from France. It takes about
4.5 mn to download this video. Once downloaded, bookmark it!!! for future
reference. Those 4.5mn waiting time are well worth it.... In this video
several things are to be noticed. The "defenseur's" (the person being kicked)
garde is excellent and avoid him to be knock out by the "attaquant" (the
savateur who is kicking): Protection is number one in savate. Such excellent
protection allows a savateurs to not succumb from such a powerful offensive.
Second , observe the "attaquant". Savate is emphasizing "enchainement de
coups" (combination kicks) as main fighting skills. Those kicks, if technically
well done are majestious when conducted. In this video observe the "competition
fouette" and the "Revers tournant lateral figure". Those two kicks are
then followed by a "coup de poing direct figure". Finally, body work is
ending the combination. During all that work the excellent defending techniques
of the defendant allowed only a low kick to get in. This is savate in it's
true form.
