Welcome to Fourty Fifty Sixty Please
let me introduce myself, my name is Ben Cassara. My partner, Joe Bucchi
and I would like to welcome you to Fourty Fifty Sixty. After you finish
shopping on line, you can also shop in person.
Fourty Fifty Sixty has been located in the heart of the East Village at 63 East 7th Street (between 1st and 2nd Avenues), New York NY 10003, since 2000. Our shop hours are Wednesday thru Saturday 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The phone number is 212-475-4015. Our shop is home to the largest vintage Barbie collection in New York City. Further, we have an extensive array of vintage and designer fashion jewelry, which we have literally scanned the globe to bring you! If you do not see what you are looking for on the "net", give us a call and perhaps we have it in the shop or you can give us your "wish list". If you are thinking about making a CLEAN SWEEP of Granny's Attic, The Closet in Your Old Room, or whatever the reason, we are always looking to buy interesting items. So please feel free to give us a call or E-Mail us at bj4t5t6t@verizon.net. I have been a Barbie Collector for more than Twenty years and since Joe and I opened the shop. Many years ago, my passion expanded from Barbie to French Fashion Dolls to Kiddles and just about everything in between. Joe
devotes much of his time "behind the scenes" on-line and on completing
doll restorations. He began doing restoration simply to ready
merchandise for the store, that may have needed a bit of help along the
way. Interestingly enough, he quickly realized he had a talent for
restoration. He is a stickler to bring the
doll back as close to their original beauty and not to make them better
than new and is honest enough to know when they should be left alone in
the condition they were discovered in. Customers began asking him to
restore
their dolls. As a result, our restoration services have
blossomed,
with hundreds of very satisfied collectors. ![]() We
have begun a new second career. To our surprise and pleasure, we
were approached by Karen Caviale of Haute Doll.
We now contribute
articles on a regular basis for the fashion doll publication, Haute
Doll.
The magazine premiered in January 2004 and has been going strong
ever since!. Ever since our first
article appeared and we began to receive many calls from collectors
around
the country. This latest venture has been most gratifying and
certainly keeps us very busy. On October 31 2002, our beloved Buffy, friend, companion, family member, left us. He was 18. In the short time that he was part of our home, he brought so much joy and happiness and left us with such a huge void and emptiness in our hearts. He did not suffer and he passed very suddenly and quickly. He is still a part of our home and will be with us forever. God bless you Buff!!!!
We both knew that
even though there could be no replacement for Buffy we needed to have a
furry face in our lives, so as the days passed we began to think of
what to do. Our search began in the beginning of 2003 and it was not
easy. As time began to pass we were still looking and wondering if we
would ever find another "wet nose" to bring home.
We feature Vintage
Barbie, her friends and family, as well as many other dolls from the
turn of the century through the 1970's! Fashion dolls such as Madame
Alexander, Ideal Miss Revlon, Uneeda Dollikin, Terri Lee, Mary Hoyer,
Jill and Miss Coty, as
well as many other grace our shelves and display cases. Those adorable
little
wonders such as Muffie, Ginny and Nancy Ann just bring wonder and
amazement
to your face when you look at those perspicuous faces. Effanbee
Patsy
and Ideal Shirley Temple are a few of the names that make up our
selection of Composition Dolls. For the Mod generation we have Crissy,
Velvet, Dawn and those wonderful Little Kiddles. For those who prefer
"Barbie Contemporaries", we offer a selection of those also, including
Tammy, Tressy, Darci, Tuesday Taylor. The Littlechaps have been
know to stop by on the way to their new home. Celebrity
dolls........OK, how does Donny and Marie, Sonny and Cher,
Diana Ross and The Bionic Man sound for starters!
We also carry a huge collection of Vintage Designer Costume Jewelry from the 1920's through 1980's. With such names as Chanel, Miriam Haskel, Trifari, Schriner, Coppla e Toppo, Coro, and Kenneth J. Lane to mention a few. Commercial Perfume Bottles and Vintage Accessories, also from the same eras, add the finishing touch to a shopping experience!
Our
shop (see pictures below) is a fun place to come in and walk through
time. The look of the shop is a bit eclectic, which makes it even more
inviting for the non-doll collector. As we mix dolls and doll
accessories with vintage signed designer costume jewelry and vintage
ladies accessories, which, as it turns out, is the perfect compliment
to the dolls. So on your next trip to New York, (either in person
or via the cyber network) stop in and enjoy a trip back in time at
Fourty Fifty Sixty! See you soon!! ….Ben and Joe
