Welcome to the land of Baron Fum, also known as David K. Schreur. Baron Fum is a Knight of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc., who enjoys rattan combat, rapier combat, theatre, puppetry, poetry, storytelling, music, songwriting, and brewing mead. He styles himself as a late medieval North German nobleman with Hanseatic connections. David K. Schreur is, on the other hand, a modern laboratory technician working in the field of developmental toxicology and currently works in Horsham, PA. He lives in Pottstown, PA between Philadelphia and Reading, although he is originally from Kalamazoo, MI.

Baron Fum is pictured here with his epee. He is in the"Crane" position. Very silly!
The picture was taken at the Silver Leaf Rennaissance Faire near Kalamazoo, MI. Fum does not usually fence in this pose, he far prefers something more stable. On the other hand, he couldn't resist playing for the camera. The white belt identifies him as a knight.
Baron Fum doesn't mind playing at rennaissance faires, or on the stage, but most of his playing is done in the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. Fum has been playing in the Society since Halloween day in 1971, when he attended his first tournament which was held on the quad at Kalamazoo College.
Baron Fum's official name in the Society is Ritter Baron Karl Aerdigwidder von Zauberberg, OP, ODH, OW, APF. He thinks that Fum is easier for people to remember and that's what his friends call him. You can call him that, too.

This is Baron Fum's coat of arms, given to him by HRM Thaid Mak Tlesson, the sixth king of the Middle Kingdom. Fum lived in the Canton of Three Hills in the Barony of Andelcrag in the Middle Kingdom from the time of HRM Iriel of Brannoch through the time of HRM Tarquin the Red. He served as the Vicar and then the Baron of the Barony of Andelcrag. Fum currently resides in the Shire of Hartshorn-dale in the East Kingdom. He has lived in the East Kingdom since the time of HRM Bjorn. Fum is a member of the Dead Knights, a knightly household. He also considers himself to be a member of a distinctive knightly order, The Knights of the Runestone Field, which consists of those who were given the accolade of knighthood on that battlefield at the Pennsic War. |
The music on this page is from Joanna Mell, a Pennsylvania harpist. You can find more information about her on the links page.
