Some notes:
I can only speak for myself, but...there are a few spots on this disc that make me cringe; nonetheless, this disc is clearly a step forward from "Duck Bill Hammer" with regards to performance and especially composition. Several of my favorites are recorded on this disc, in particular "The Sun Setting..." and "blues." "Braque" was something of a breakthrough, though in retrospect it feels too short. We almost tried to record it on the first CD, but I wanted to wait (a good idea, it turned out).
Notable too is the series of homages to various horror, monster, and exploitation movie directors. I won't go into their filmographies here, you should look them up. I was contacted by Doris Wishman's biographer, who sent copies to her and Phil Tucker jr. Doris sent me an autographed photo, and I'm told she liked and appreciated her tribute. She has passed on since. Now if I can only get copies to Herk Harvey, Jack Hill, and Dario Argento... I like the series in the context of this CD, but after its release I decide to withdraw most of the individual pieces from live performances.
