Whatever we do or fail to do in 1999 will most likely determine the fate of humanity and our planet for decades, perhaps centuries to come. Sadly, very few people are presently aware of that and unless there are some amazing changes in the near future, life on earth could become very difficult.

Y2K (year 2000 computer problem) is looking more dangerous than ever, so the world urgently needs a positive attitude towards the future. The details will shock you, but the end may be great ! We’ll all have new, clean, safe, decentralized energy.

A professional computer programmer/ engineer for 30 years claims that our entire culture is doomed as a result of the Year 2000 Computer Glitch (or Y2K) combined with other failures causing a decline of the world economy. He writes:

Yet around 2000 many changed systems will be installed almost simultaneously and that would be irrational in any situation. It could cause a complete system, and hence cultural, collapse as our writer indicates.

If we add to that the panic of millions of people who are totally unprepared for anything like that, a major collapse is almost certain. This man predicts the total collapse of our civilization in ways that will not recover for many generations. Though many would not agree, his logic does seem true. Perhaps he is right and they are in denial. So it is urgent to prepare people without causing a panic. (A woman working with FEMA and the Red Cross told us those agencies require them to say "prepare for nothing more than a winter storm", but she and her family are preparing for 6 months without supplies or power.) We think there’s a positive alternative.

CELEBRATING Y2K AND NEW ENERGY TO PREVENT PANIC, EASE TRANSITION

Many have sensed the spiritual values Y2K can bring; all over the world people coming together to help one another survive. But it's being played out as tragic when it could be a HUGE CELEBRATION !

And actually there will be something huge to celebrate that most of the world is still unaware of. We'll soon have an end to polluting fuels and a totally new energy source for villages and vehicles, abundant, clean, safe and decentralized.

Instead of all the negative stuff we're being warned about because folks are not prepared and because of the double bind of creating panic if we give warnings and worse panic later if we don't, let's take a happier, positive approach.

Lets declare a month-long world holiday for the new millennium; a time when all businesses may be closed, all will be free from work and able to get together and celebrate for all of January, 2000. Remember we won't have another Millennium Party for a THOUSAND YEARS !

To prepare for that everyone should be asked to assume there will be no stores open, possibly no services of any kind for a whole month and should be asked to prepare for the celebration by stocking up on food and all things needful to party for 30 days without electricity or even running water. That way, with less panic, folks will be prepared, will look forward to a happier time together, sharing. If they have no central heat, they'll have alternatives even to cuddling in together with folks they love. Those who do have alternative heat or electricity will be encouraged to invite others to join the party at their place.

In many places it won't really get that bad, but all will be encouraged to plan to party that way anyhow so if it does they will not suffer too much. The military may help with some real emergencies.

Money may be short, but barter or sharing and giving would be encouraged. Folks should even be encouraged to stock up on bargain stuff they don't need to have it to barter later as well as things they may need. Our experience should prepare us for a far more loving, freer sharing economy coming in the next century.

And all that is not only a dream. I’m sure we are coming to the end of the fossil fuel era because an entirely new source of energy has been discovered by Dr. Randell Mills that may soon be on the market. I aim to get a simple heater for sale before 2,000 so everyone will know this is real.

Mills says a "low energy" form of hydrogen has been discovered which is actually an inert gas that forms no compounds. This hydrogen atom is, like the usual hydrogen atom, only one proton and one electron, but the electron orbit is far smaller. This atom, called a "hydrino" is so small it passes right through any container and, as it forms no compounds, goes off into space. Space is full of hydrinos which apparently make up the "dark matter of space" which provides the gravity to hold the galaxies together. So if any number of them leave the earth, they have almost no effect on our environment or the cosmos. They’re hard to detect and do not radiate.

But the energy released when hydrogen from water becomes hydrinos is amazing ! We can get up to 1,000 times as much energy from that transformation as it takes to get the hydrogen from water. In time, maybe a few years from now, (if we play it right) all or most of our energy will be derived from that source which requires no central power plants. Every little village could have its own electricity ! That is Dr. Mills’ amazing discovery.

Of course some readers will think I'm nuts. That's what folks thought of people who said the Wright brothers were flying. But Orville and Wilbur were flying in public for five years before they got any real press coverage ! A similar problem exists today, in that so many "new energy" ideas proliferate that scientists are fed up and ignore them.

I'm a futurist so it is my task to look at all sorts of "crazy" ideas that others don't even want to consider. I've seen a lot of frauds, and many good but marginal systems like wind and solar, but this one is completely real. I was lucky to get the first extensive interviews with Dr. Randell Mills, who discovered the new energy, and I have regular contact with his laboratory. He's moving it to the Princeton U. area soon and doubling his staff to forty. He's now working on a battery to provide electricity directly from this energy. But that will take some years to finish and market. Meantime, here on the West Coast we're hoping to produce a simple home heating unit based on this discovery that we can market before 2,000 so everyone in the world will know the new energy is real. We really do have something worth a month-long celebration ! We need help to do this. We’re seeking out caring scientists and engineers who realize the emergency.

There’s so little bureaucracy here that if we get it working we can go right into production and sales.

Dr. Mills (Randy) gave me a copy of his book The Grand Unified Theory Of Classical Quantum Mechanics, and starting on page 500 is a description and all details of his first electrolysis experiment where the new energy was found. In our interviews he reported getting up to 8.2 times as much energy out as he was putting in. That’s impressive. We hope to duplicate that experiment to a degree, as far as we can in a school lab. If that works, it should be easy to get funding for building the vacuum unit he describes in our interviews and see if we can actually get a simple heating unit built and working. I expect Randy will cooperate with us as I’m told he does help his friends, though he’s too busy to respond to inquiries by others. I already have people here ready to work on that with me. The community has a brilliant mechanic and welder with state of the art (and beyond) equipment who says he can build the model for under $1,000 plus the cost of a really powerful vacuum pump.

If you take the trouble to look, you'll see this amazing discovery is very real and the celebration I propose could bring us to such a positive attitude towards the future that millions will cooperate, share, and produce the new millennium we really long for instead of a worldwide cultural collapse.

Through the community here, I've gotten to know Bea Randall, Mayor Pro Temp. of Arlington who is quite enthusiastic about starting a low power FM station for the town's youth invited me to speak about it at City Council.

I’d turn the station entirely over to teenagers if we can find some responsible enough to run it. In addition to being a very local station kids-fm could also put some of their programs on the Internet in RealAudio to be heard anywhere in the world. They could also use some of the programs we can get from Radio For Peace and other Internet sources.

The station would let youth express their views and needs, as well as serve the town by inviting people to share their concerns.

I was interviewed for 20 min. on a youth radio station just outside Havana when I was in Cuba. That one was fully controlled by a committee of listeners, while the government paid the bills.

The Arlington Times, oldest weekly in this state, did a great article on my station idea before my presentation to City Council, allowing time for most of the members to read it. They favor the station and will probably fund it very soon. Bea knows youth groups ready to get involved. We have copies of the Arlington Times article.

Nathan Jett of North American Broadcasting Co. (of Phoenix, AZ) called to suggest I start hosting a radio talk show on one or more 50,000 watt am stations. It’d be a 13 week pilot project at about one hour a week run right from here by phone. I can speak about anything but must put down a large sum of money (nearly $4,000) to start. But then as sponsors sign up, I get 100% of what they pay (at $150/min.) till I’m repaid and then 50% of all sponsor revenues as my program continues.

I’ve been advised to check it out carefully so if any reader knows this field well, please inform me.

A major cause of ill health is that our soil is de-mineralized so no food it grows has all we need for good health. That changes when minerals from seaweed are added. The sea contains all minerals on earth and we can assimilate them from powdered sea weed. I’ve used a teaspoon a day for 8 years and overcome walking pneumonia, arthritis, varicose veins, athlete’s foot, hemorrhoids, low sex drive and physical weakness. I’m 71 and look and act like a much younger man. Of course using raw honey instead of sugar and avoiding meat helped also, but only the seaweed made the major changes real health required. I pay $1 - $4/lb. Plants also do far better when sprayed with a seaweed spray. I use that to grow alfalfa sprouts which last far longer than those getting air and water alone. I can send an article about that for any donation and an SASE. I expect alfalfa sprouts to be a major part of our Y2K survival diet as it’s so easy to store seeds in quantity, and sprouts provide the very best nutrition as fresh organic food. I am already producing them for the community and hope to supply all of us when things are difficult. Healing by seaweed often takes years.

But growing plants and trees absorb seaweed spray the best when their stomata, the pores they breath through, are open. An amazing discovery shows that those stomata stay open best in the presence of bird song or the electronic equivalent of such sounds. We used to hear "The sky was black with migrating birds". No longer. We’ve destroyed them with deforestation and poisons of all kinds.

In 1990 I produced an informal video on this process and now, with some new knowledge I’m planning to use the method here in the community to provide us with better and more abundant organic crops in the coming year. The video is available and we need help to produce an electronic replacement for the birdsong missing from our fields. Get in touch soon if you can help with that project. Is, we find, totally unnecessary and in fact an attempt by big corporations to control world food, a new way to enslave the world’s poor. Hopefully it will all go down in the failures that Y2K will likely bring. We can really supply all the world’s food needs by the processes above and not endanger anyone. It’s only sad that the world does not know about it yet because we don’t have the money to give it major publicity. However, maybe if we can get the new energy on the market in time, we’ll be able to tell the world about those other discoveries also. Please call or write if you can help with any of these things.

Cancer, we find, is caused by health so poor that the white cells no longer destroy cancer cells the body naturally produces. It is not due to any lack of drugs, surgery or radiation in our diet, and therefore surgery or drugs which do not make us healthier are only a temporary help at best. And most of those drugs are expensive poisons.

There is a chemical that is not so poisonous that stops the liver from producing exactly that sugar which a tumor requires, and so causes tumors to shrink. It’s hydrazine sulfate, known over 25 years. And all you need for few a months (100 g.) costs $15 from Fisher Scientific Co. in Fair Lawn, NJ. We can e-mail all the details if urgently needed.

But no chemical cures cancer. Only good health can do that. Good health depends on nutrition and sprouts and seaweed can help that a lot. But a major cause of poor health would be poor lifestyle. That’s the rub. All humans lived a communal lifestyle without using money for 99% of our time on earth. We lived tribally, cooperatively, with a minimum of tension. Then came kings, competition, and armies to take slaves (which required sexual repression — sexually satisfied men don’t like to kill). Then followed wage slavery and a rapidly growing prison population. Tribal life ended; health suffered.

James Prescott, Ph.D. is a scientist whose 17 year study of the causes of human violence proved incomplete brain development causes tendencies to drug use and violence. Lack of pleasure in early years prevents development of our pleasure centers. Of 49 cultures studied, all those who gave children a lot of affection or allowed sexual freedom produced peaceful adults and the others warlike adults. So, angry, unfulfilled people doing work they don’t enjoy tend towards ill health and cancer as well as overeating and depression. The medical industry, eager for money, does not bring us health at all, and that’s why we much prefer the ways of Patch Adams and loving intimate communal life.

We know Patch as a real medical doctor and a real clown who believes in communal living and in all kinds of alternative therapies including humor ! He’s been to our house and we’ve been to his commune more than once. He’s given free advice when needed and it was great ! The movie is terrific. At the end it states that over 1,000 doctors want to follow his lead and with his new popularity, he could change the entire medical profession forever — which is exactly what he always wanted to do !

We’d like to support his dream of a free hospital where the doctors live communally with the patients, and I know it can work because we had one for almost 20 years on the Bruderhof in Paraguay. I’ve spent time with Patch and taped his lectures. For example, a Caesarian costing $14,000 in a city hospital could be done by his communal doctors for just $75. They would charge nothing, take no insurance plans, but only donations, and pay no malpractice insurance. You could choose any type of treatment you believe in for any problem.

This is one of the most positive thinking communities I've lived in since the Bruderhof (where I was from 1948 to 1964). It is Christian but neither dogmatic nor sexually repressive. Though seeing responsible free sexuality as a good thing, most are actually monogamous. However there is quite a difference between men and women with a man seen as "the head of the woman" in most things, an old belief of more dogmatic Christians.

The community has no detailed history of its 30 or so years and its present membership of 12 households, about 60 people, is a third of what it once was, but they’ve been through many changes.

Today they are rural on about 350 acres in the foothills of the Cascade mountains about 40 miles north of Seattle. Before this, they had about 15 houses in Seattle and took in the poorest of the poor and served them with "The Front Door Inn".

Full members are those who feel led by God to be here and join the community by adult baptism, sometimes even in a hot tub. Though they don't want folks coming to "change them" they have been through so many changes (such as voluntary poverty with no use of money at all), it's clear that changes happen pretty rapidly, and will continue in the future. When I first came they knew almost nothing about the Y2K computer problem that could possibly bring down our whole culture in about a year. Now all are well aware and starting to work on a response. Though Judy and Joel find it hard, I feel able to work better here than anywhere I’ve been.

My coming here seems to be a spiritual calling whereby I am here as a helper, but also a challenge to their leadership and I felt free enough to share this embarrassing dream in a mens’ meeting.

I described a dream where I was visiting in a commune in NYC, feeling very lonely. I dreamed that I spoke that out openly in a meeting there and immediately a young woman said she'd be delighted to spend the night with me. On reaching her room I said I had to visit the bathroom first, and I awoke from the dream with an urgent call from nature. Just as I awoke I got a spiritual message to be a help and a challenge to Love Israel and his Family. When I shared this, Love confessed to some loneliness also.

There were other leadings also mentioned in newsletter 225. After flying Birdie, our 1958 Cessna to Cuba twice, I got so much hassle from the FAA that I could no longer use her. This community has a flight instructor so I decided to give them the plane and help fly it here. Judy picked the date astrologic-ally and we had almost perfect weather right across the nation in June.

At Love Israel Family each household is independent and responsible for its own income, though some people work for and are supported by the community. Each household is like a separate little community and can invite visitors to stay with them. We are Judy and I and Joel (13) with our old friend Linda who came with us from Philadelphia. Life in a yurt is not very private, just one big room, but we recently installed a big sleeping deck and below it a curtained bath area which can include the sink and propane heater. The yurt is round, 24 ft. across with a four foot dome skylight and a ceiling fan to circulate heat. It’s on a platform eight feet off the ground allowing lots of storage space below. The platform cost $2,500 and the yurt $8,400 plus about $1,000 for amenities, heat, etc.

We're trying to make it nice enough inside to invite visitors from the community and from outside. The community has very high standards of beauty matching the glory of the steep forested hills that comprise most of our land. Unfortunately greedy people would soon clear-cut all the trees if we can't keep up land payments and have to sell some land.

Each one of us is responsible to support the community with money by individual agreements as we are able when land payments come due. Obviously there is no complete community of goods here as we have on the Bruderhof and many other groups, though that has been tried, along with many other lifestyles. In a recent men's meeting we've been favoring a return to a more communal option in the near future, and plan to build for that.

It's the daily morning meetings that keep the whole community together. Often they are led by Love Israel himself, or by Serious Israel, Love's very practical assistant. Both of them speak from the heart instead of any written sermons, and without any planned agenda allow each one to share any needs or concerns in the meetings. There is also a weekly men's meeting and a weekly women's meeting. Judy has attended women's meetings and tells me they talk mostly about clothes and parties, all of which bore her. She feels there is need for a womens' support group because the women feel less free to speak out than the men. Of course, Judy and Joel are here because of me, not having chosen with a clear decision to live in any of the communities we visited over 22 years.

I, on the other hand have felt like a fish out of water all my years outside of community and now with Y2K a looming reality I could do no other than choose a community to live in where I could relearn a bit of humility and find ways to help others also. I feel that I fit very well here, that I'm called to be here in spite of the many things that may be less than perfect. I find here a very listening, cooperative attitude in spite of weakness; a group of people so dedicated to one another that they can weather hell together if that is required. I want to be with the group all the way and, with a positive approach, help our group to help all the others as much as possible.

There are problems here and I've alluded to some, but this is one of the most positive thinking groups I've ever seen. I've mentioned the Millennium Party all January, 2,000 to a few and all love it. I'll present it to the whole meeting now that Blacklight Power folks had no problem with my explanation.

Can we make it here together ? I now recall my doubts and struggles to accommodate to the Bruderhof. Had I not gone 10,000 miles to get there, I might have left after a week or two. Judy and Joel are hoping to remain till June and then return to Philadelphia for up to three months to help friends and city folks learn to deal with the coming Y2K developments. In between we're hoping that April will come out here for a short visit as soon as the crisis over Mumia is passed.

MUMIA ABU-AMAL

For any who are unaware, Mumia Abu-Jamal has to be one of the bravest men in America. He's a political prisoner on death row in Pennsylvania for about 17 years. At 15 he was the Information Minister for the Black Panthers and a few years later he was a leading black radio journalist who dared to speak out against police brutality. Framed by police, he is once again faced with execution with little chance for a fair trial which he never got. His case is known worldwide and has been protested by the president of France and many other leading people, but the U.S. media (like ABC) want him dead. If he gets free he’d surely be another Nelson Mandella.

April, our daughter is doing all she can for him. We’re talking with her right now. She says we need all possible help to free him or get him a new trial. Returning to a community lifestyle after a life of private property and individual decision making is not easy for most people. I’ve been "doing my own thing" ever since I came to Philadelphia in 1969 but 20 years of communal living before that make a re- turn to community much easier for me than for Judy.

Judy and Joel will remain till June and then go to Philadelphia for about three months to help friends and city folks learn to deal with the coming Y2K developments. In between we're hoping that April will come out here for a short visit as soon as the crisis over Mumia is passed. Honestly, I’m not sure we can make it here as a family together, but I have to think positive and expect the very best. I know that despite some problems, I must be here and am grateful for it. On New Year’s Eve we met with a man who also sees the new energy as an emergency and can help with various contacts such as Dennis Weaver with whom I was in Moscow (to stop the Cold War) in 1986. That eve, we also talked with a local physicist/engineer who may be able to help us. Things are going so well here for the planet that I cannot consider go- elsewhere at this time unless it is a clear calling.
