Dear Friends,

After reading the first column of our last newsletter (#228, 7/21/99) you might be wondering what is happening with the new energy we reported on there and in many previous newsletters.

We were hoping to put heaters on the market that would need no fuel but hydrogen and get about 1000 X as much energy from that gas as it takes to get the hydrogen form water, and thereby prove the truth of Dr. Randell Mills discoveries.

With the help of a catalyst engineer I met as a result of my trip to the future energy conference in Bethesda, MD, we submitted a request to Pacific Northwest National Laboratories asking them to help us develop the prototype heaters.

Three of us then went to meet with Ron Brodzinski their Senior Chief Scientist for Nuclear and Chemical research. It was a 500 mile trip in our 1980 diesel Rabbit which made it trouble free and Dr. Brodzinski was most generous with his time. He loves his work and we spent six hours together talking about every aspect of the new energy and almost everything else you could think of.

We were told the claims of Dr. Mills are impossible, but nevertheless, in order to be certain of that they would put up to $10,000 worth of work into finding out for sure, because if they were wrong and Dr. Mills was really on to something, then it would change all of science. We would have a whole new physics. That is, of course, what Dr. Mills is saying we have.

Study of the new energy was delayed about ten days as both Dr. Mills and Dr. Brodzinski were going out of town the next day for over a week, but in the meantime we worked at contacting Blacklight Power to inform them of our work and arrange for Mills and Brodzinski to communicate. Norm Winningstad, a technically oriented investor, in Mills' organization, Blacklight Power, Inc. has been extremely helpful in all of this and was able to give Dr. Brodzinski a clearer explanation of the new physics than any of us could do. Dr. B. seems satisfied with the explanation and is now ready for the testing.

I'm not sure how long that will actually take, but they were talking about putting about a week into the work so we should be hearing from PNNL some time soon unless there are some bureaucratic delays.

Norm and I (and of course Randell Mills) remain totally convinced that the experiments will reveal a major discovery that will change the outlook of modern physics. I also feel sure that the testing will be honest and thorough and they will tell us what they discover even if it totally contradicts what has previously been "known" to be the truth.

I am not certain that this will result in the production and marketing of heating units based on the new energy this year. The time is getting awfully short. However if PNNL which has some of the world's top scientists discovers that there really is a lot more energy to be found in the hydrogen atom than previously known, that could in itself be enough of a breakthrough to get all the media attention we need and convince the public that there is a very positive energy future ahead for the entire planet.

I know that sounds grandiose. But I also know that it will take some pretty grandiose changes if we are to pass peacefully through the next times of Y2K disruptions.

Y2K NOT SO SIMPLE


I know that government and media have been telling us for months that there will only be some minor problems, but from all that I see, that is unlikely to be the case. I could go into my reasoning in great detail, but unlike the work of PNNL there is no scientific way to determine the truth of this matter until it happens.

But there are a number of problems often overlooked which could cause more trouble than the media tells us. On the one hand there is the problem of honesty. The NY Times, in reporting on the latest Y2K controversies mentions that some programmers doing the remediation may not be entirely honest. They might create means whereby they themselves would later be able to steal huge sums of money from the systems they are revising, and it would be very hard for anyone to discover that in time. Good programmers are in too short supply to search their past history before hiring.

Another problem is that these folks are being paid more now than ever before and even if they are sure they cannot complete the essential changes in time, are they going to tell that to the boss and possibly lose their high-paying jobs before year's end ? Historically, only a very small percentage of large computer programs have ever been completed on time. So the reports of Y2K compliance we are getting from many organizations may be no more honest than the lowly programmer doing the grunt work.

And then an even larger problem looms. Say that all our essential programs are finished on time, as miraculous as that might be. There is considerable certainty that that will not be true of many other nations on which this nation's commerce is almost totally dependent. My new $10 calculator watch was made in China. I couldn't find one made in the U.S. But 90% of the software used in China is pirated so that they are unable to get revisions that are Y2K compliant even if such are easily available here. Europe started on their Y2K remediation far too late because they were creating their new currency instead, and in the Mideast many countries have done no revisions at all. Good programmers in many third world nations have probably emigrated to the U.S. or other places where they could earn far more, leaving their own nation woefully short of help in that area.

Arab countries, I hear, are seeing Y2K as a "Christian Problem" and if we do well with it and their whole systems fail causing extreme hardship, they are most likely to blame it all on us, saying we did it with that intention in mind. It is, after all, the U.S. military which decided to use the two digit system instead of four. I've seen talk of "Holy War" arising from that likely development.

The answer ? My greatest hope remains that before the end of this year the whole world will become aware of a really positive future and if this can brbe there will be such a positive vision amongst millions that they will want to cooperate and help that future come forth instead of thinking of ways to get revenge on the Americans.

As indicated, we've already had miracles in that direction and if you see any way to add to those miracles, let me know at once. We do need more people to help with the work right here and now and if this excites you don't hesitate to call.

A COLLEGE OF COMMUNES ?


I just returned from a great three day meeting of Northwest Intentional Community Association (NICA) at the River Farm Community in Deming, WA. I took my portable minidisk recorder and recorded five hours for a national or international radio broadcast about cooperative communities. Of course a lot of editing will be required and I don't really have time for that. However, I will copy the disks on cassette tapes so others can hear them and look for an editor.

One idea that came forward from the NICA board members was a school where people could learn about cooperative living, and that was just what I had been visualizing many years ago when I called it: A College of Communes. So I made the suggestion and it was well liked. I may now try to move forward with that idea together with the NICA board.

My vision was a kind of college where students would pay very little if any tuition but share instead in the work of various successful communities. The college would send students out as teams to various communities for a certain time, after which they would return and report on their findings.

To graduate, they would be required to form a group and go out and start their own community. Of course the college would help in every way possible and when they have their own community going it would then become a branch of the college ready to receive interns to help them with the work and experience the problems of starting a new community. The NICA directors liked the idea and I hope to follow through with it because with Y2K coming on there will be great need for the security of cooperative living. With the support and experience of the NICA board members, I believe we could now get such a learning experience started and if any of our readers are interested in taking part, I'd be happy to hear from them right now.

Y2K PREPARATIONS


I met some very wonderful people at the conference, many more than just those who belong to regional communities. There was both a naturopathic physician and a very spiritual chiropractor. When I told them of my problem with glaucoma and the fact that I know my red blood cells tend to stack like coins and have a hard time going through the tiniest capillaries, both advised me to eat flax seeds, so this morning I ground a whole cup of them as suggested and my red cells have been living freely all day. I can tell that because when they are stacked, my finger tips are cold, room temperature, but when they flow freely, they are warm to the touch and by exact measurement with a thermistor. A whole cup of flax seed is a lot so I'll try half a cup tomorrow and see if the warmth remains.

At about the same time I met a young man who's a buyer for a company that makes organic flax seed oil and buys large quantities at very low cost. He said I might get 100 pounds for about $50 and I'll store it in a drum under the yurt using our silica gel to keep them dry. Judy has been telling me for years to eat flax seed, but I only now realized how important a nutrient they are for me, and how much I might need.

LOVE ISRAEL OFF TO ZEGG


A short time ago Love and Serious and some others here saw my video on ZEGG and Love and his wife and son have just left for Europe where he hopes to visit ZEGG and may leave his son there for a month. He told me he thought he might learn from the folks at ZEGG and that is also my hope. We all need to learn from one another to create the best possible communities. ZEGG is the German acronym for the Center for Experimental Cultural Design and is a community about the size of ours which is dedicated to creating a new culture that will work with the planet instead of against it. Love Israel has similar objectives.

Finally, I just had a talk with Serious who heads the community when Love is away. He told me they are moving ahead professionally with a large green house so we'll have food through the Winter regardless of the weather, but that will need some money invested.

We just received the minidisk interview with Dr. Richard Schneider of Radio For Peace International describing the world conference of indigenous peoples October 4 to 10th It's recorded louder and clearer than our previous taped recordings [and you can look forward to that kind of quality with all upcoming recordings as well -Joel]. I will personally attend the conference where, on October 8, I'll give a demonstration and workshop for folks interested in starting their own low power (1 to 5 mile radius) FM radio stations for under $1,000. I hope to bring a complete station along and set it up and let you hear it. on your radios around the area.

Of course there will be many other workshops and plenary sessions and even a large pow wow with thousands in attendance. We'll (by aquiescense) take over a large military base (Camp Pendleton) for the entire week and do our best to change forever the spirit of that base. That will allow radio stations of all kinds all over the world to re-broadcast some of the world's best programs totally free of corporate control. We await the programs from Radio For Peace in Costa Rica.

And finally you will see an article about Y2K Awareness Day which is August 19, 1998. That day is just 500 days before the next millennium and we are just 500 thousand computer programmers short of making it an easy transition. Read it and pass it on to your local paper as soon as you can.

Date: June 18th

Well, last month I started with the words, "This is Art" and told of my very brief visit to the love Israel Family. Now, Judy and I and Joel are going out there in Birdie, our 1958 Cessna for a three week visit. That's a long flight right across the U.S.A. and so I've invited Noble Israel, who happens to be a flight instructor member of the Love Israel, to come out to Philadelphia and fly back with us.

He'll arrive on Friday, June 19 and then we hope to take off very early on the 20th and arrive in Seattle area, the airport at Arlington, 7 miles from the community on Monday. The weather looks very good so far and Judy says that's to be expected because the astrology is excellent.

We expect ot be back in Philadelphia on July 17 and then we'll decide about making a more permanent move to the Love Israel community. I took the time to study the basic document or "Charter" they wrote back in 1970 and re-wrote it in my own words to make sure they knew how I understood it. Serious has informed us that the re-write was accurate.

BIG THINGS IN ENERGY

We recently started working with Jean Hudon of the Earth Rainbow Network and he liked our information on the new energy a lot. In fact he went directly to Dr. Mills' site and brought forth the latest information, several articles I'd not seen. All that material and the letters I wrote to Jean Hudon are there. This is Art. In mid May I made a visit to the Love Israel Family near Seattle, WA, a community of about 100 people. I've know the group since 1980 when I met their founder and several members at the Rainbow Gathering in West Virginia. At the time I was very intrigued but just thought of them as too far away. But now, after this visit, I am so delighted with what I found that I want to take Judy and Joel out for three weeks to see if we ought to join with them.

We plan to leave Philadelphia about June 20 and return around July 19. In the meantime I'd like to put up some photos that I took there on my short May visit. If you'd like to see them click here. Most members of the community go by "Virtue Names" that have meaning in English or another language.
