GRADUATION--On June 28th we held our graduation honoring 13 GED recipients. 11 of our students and their family and friends came out for the ceremony and reception afterwards. Maria Sullivan received the Warren MacEachern Award for hard work and perseverance. Aurelia Alamariu, the program director, was the Master of Ceremonies. Our student speaker was Lisa Karpenko, Class of 2001. The day was a proud one for our school, and we appreciate all of the hard work that made it possible. The reception following the ceremony was full of food and conversation, the former made possible by many generous donation from our community.
DEBORAH J. COLUCCI:
Is our on-site counselor/case manager. She is a graduate from Northeastern
University with a B.S. in psychology. She is dedicated to working with
our students on an individual basis and assisting them in achieving their
personal goals. She helps our students with housing, daycare and
any court issues they may have. Our students feel that she is a great
asset to Futures For Young Parents.
SARA JUBINVILLE: Is a recent graduate of Boston University with a B.S. in Rehabilitation and Human services. She is one of out teachers specializing in Literature, Science and Social Studies. She is also our on-site job developer, acting as an advocate for the Futures For Young Parents program, networking to obtain quality job placement and college funding. Her work and dedication enables are students to look forward to a rewarding career. She too is a great asset to the Futures For Young Parents Program.
LISA KLAUD:
Is
our newest teacher to the Futures For Young Parents Program. She is a graduate
of Fitchburg State with a B.A. in Sociology, and has a minor in Spanish.
She lived in Costa Rica for 2 months and has taught Spanish to 7th and
8th graders for a year. Lisa helps translate to our Spanish speaking students,
and assists them with any work they may need help in, and also teaches
math on a daily basis. We are very happy to welcome her to our program.
