How to keep your kids safe

It is sad to say that most day cares are no longer safe. There are a lot of concerns about day care abuse. Some day cares are not equipped with the equipment that children of all ages need. I also think that day cares need cameras. Parents need to teach their children to speak up if they see anything that shouldn’t be going on.
There are issues about what a day care should be like. Parents should pay close attention to what kind of environment their child will be in. Day cares should have high chairs, potty seats, toys, and a first aid kit. Parents should also look on how clean the place is. It is also important to make sure that the person who is caring for your child is licensed.
A lot of parents think that there should be cameras, because this way parents know if the child is being treated properly. No one really knows what goes on behind closed doors. When children are small they don’t know how to tell their parents that they or someone is getting abused. For example, I read in the Boston Globe that in Hudson, Mass, there was this one incident where a woman duct-taped an 8-month-old girl to the wall. She thought that the sight of the struggling baby was funny. She also would blast water in the children’s faces if they would cry. This story absolutely makes me sick; therefore, I feel very strongly about cameras being in day cares.
Parents need to teach their children what is right and what is it wrong. They also need to teach their children to speak out if there is something going on; for instance, if someone is hurting them or hurting someone else.
I think that as a parent it is my job to really know about the person who will be caring for my child. I also need to see if they have everything that my child needs. The U.S. should also spend money on cameras to keep our kids safe. Parents should teach their kids to speak up if something is wrong. These are just a few ways we can keep children safe.
